Using iTunes to sync video to iPhone is a good option, but not that good when the videos are from different iTunes library. This guide is about how to send videos to iPhone without deleting the existed video files.

The answer is wifi transfer. Through wifi, we can choose which video files to transfer freely . The only thing we have to do is putting iPhone and computer under the same Wifi network, so it sounds very handy. The app we will use here is Takecopter.

Takecopter is an iPhone wifi transfer application, which can transfer videos between iPhone and computer only using wifi, and the videos transferred can be played directly with the built-in media player.

Transfer videos to iPhone through wifi

1. Since we use wifi to transfer files, first we should connect iPhone and computer to the same wifi network.

Video will be transferred only within this local wifi network, so it will be safe to do the transfer job.

2. Download Takecopter to iPhone and run it.

 

3. We will get an URL from the iPhone interface. Next input the URL address into browser of computer to get iPhone and computer connected.

 

Next is the Takecopter web page on computer.

From the screenshots we know that Takecopter can not only transfer videos, but also photos, music and other files.

4. Files would be allocated to the right tab after transfer, so on the web page, there is no need to go to the “Video” tab.

5. Next we can select and send videos to iPhone now.

Click “+Add…” button to select videos from computer, next click the “Start Upload” button to send those to iPhone. We can select to send them in batch or one-by-one.

6. After transfer, tap “Video” tab on iPhone to see files transferred.

Notice that:

Now not all video files can be played directly on Takecopter, when you tap the files, some files will be played immediately, for others, there will be a dialogue popping up with a list of third-party apps.

So we can either enjoy the videos on Takecopter, or play them on other third-party apps.

Add CD songs to iPhone and enjoy

Use iTunes, Windows Media Player and other free programs, we can easily burn songs into CDs for backup or others. At the same time we also could use those programs to rip songs from CDs in MP3, AAC, WAV or other format to save them on computer. Then send them to iPhone, iPad or other players to enjoy.

Still iTunes is my preferred tool to do the work. It has both the Windows and Mac version, so we could rip CDs both on Windows and Mac computer. And it can help to sync music to iPhone and iPad.

And what’s more iTunes can rip music from CD to MP3, AAC, WAV, Aiff, M4a format. They all supported by iPhone, but considering to use the songs more widely, here we take MP3 as the output format. So the songs can be put into almost every mobile phone or player.

How to rip songs from CD to MP3 format and add to iPhone

1. Rip music from CD to MP3 format.

Launch iTunes to make settings. Click “Edit –  Preference” in the menu bar, next click “General” tab –  “Import Setting” button to get the “Import Settings” dialogue.

Select “MP3 Encoder” from “Import Using”, and click “OK.”

then insert the CD disc into computer. A message will pop out asking whether to import the CD music into iTunes library. Click “Yes” to let iTunes rip the CD for you.

2. Send MP3 music to iPhone and enjoy.

Of course we can sync music to iPhone through iTunes, but if you already have songs from other iTunes library in iPhone, we may have a problem to sync the new songs without deleting the old songs.

To avoid the problem, here we transfer those MP3 music to iPhone through Wifi. Takecopter can help us.

Click “Library –  Music” button, next click “albums” tab to find the MP3 music ripped from CD. Right click on one songs in the album and select “Get Info”. Under “Summary” tab, you can get the location of the song from “Where”.

Connect iPhone and computer to same Wifi network, and launch　Takecopter　on iPhone to get the URL address.

Type the address into browser of computer, click “+Add” button to select the MP3 music files and click “Start upload” button to upload them to iPhone.

After that, click “Music” tab on iPhone to show the music list uploaded. Tap on one song to play it.

Burn songs on to a CD for free

When search on Google for free programs which can burn songs onto CD, I always get lost and don’t know which one to use. In fact, I finally find that there are common programs which we may use everyday and don’t know they also have the CD burning feature.

You can use iTunes (Apple program both in Windows and Mac version), Windows Media Player (built-in program in Windows), WinAMP, RealPlayer etc to burn CDs. The one I preferred to use is iTunes. First it can be used both in Windows and Mac; Second I have a iPhone, and iTunes is the indispensible program for an Apple user.

So next is about how to burn songs onto CDs using iTunes. Instructions about other program may be written next time.

First download iTunes to PC or Mac computer. It can be downloaded for free from Apple website which is http://www.apple.com.

Install and launch iTunes on computer. Click “Music” from Library button in the left top of iTunes.

Next click “Playlists” tab to get list of playlists.

Click the “+” icon in the left bottom to add new playlist, then drag & drop songs you want to burn on to CDs into the new playlist to add them.

Notice here: not all songs can be added into iTunes. It supports aac, m4a, wav, mp3, aiff etc. On Windows, if you add .wma into iTunes, it will convert them into format supported by Apple. But .wma can not be added into iTunes on Mac.

Next right click on the playlist, and select “Burn Playlist to Disc“.

In the popping up “Burn Settings” dialogue, select CD burner from “Disc Burner”, and select “Audio CD” from “Disc Format”.

Also check “Include CD text” if you want to keep the CD metadata such as album, artist etc.

Here I’m using CD-RW, because it can be used for several times while CD-R can only be used one time.

And what’s more, generally one CD can only hold songs up to 74 minutes. If the playlist is long, there will be several CDs prepared.

CD is my preferred way to back up my loved songs, but I’d prefer to use iPhone to listen them. Wifi transfer is a more convenient and time-saving way to do that.

Send photos from Windows/ Mac to your iPhone/ iPad

What do you do if you want to send some photos from your computer to your iPhone/ iPad? There are many options –  iTunes, wifi, bluetooth, email or other web service such as dropbox, Skydrive and so on.

It’s very simple to sync photos to iPhone using iTunes, but the problem is you can not select photos freely unless you set them into a folder in advance. And what’s more, you can not delete those photos directly on iPhone but to sync them again through iTunes. Also, email is a good way but it also has the size limitation.

After many attempts, wifi transfer is my preferred way to move photos from computer to iPhone/ iPad. Here app is needed, which I’m using Takecopter.

iOS app is much cheaper and convenient than other Windows/ Mac software/ applications. And all the transfer can be done only through wifi, no need to connect iPhone or iPad with computer. Next let’s see how to:

First, of course you will have to connect computer and device to the same Wifi network. It doesn’t work with 3G network so you will have to take care.

Next download Takecopter to iPhone/ iPad.

Tap on the icon to launch it and get the URL address which appears in the interface. Input the address exactly what it is into browser of computer including the :8080. For web browser, you can choose from Chrome, Firefox, Safari, IE etc. Generally you can use every browser as you like.

From the four tabs, we can know the app can also be used to transfer music, videos and others such as PDF, txt, excel etc. It can even be used as media player or PDF reader, which you can explore by yourself.

Here we don’t have to select any tab, just click the “+Add” button to select photos which we want to send. Then use “Start transfer” button to upload photos selected to iPhone.

The transferred photos will be automatically saved to Camera Roll in iPhone/iPad. After transfer, you can go to “Photos” app to view them, or you can view them directly on Takecopter.

Also notice:  don’t quit the app very quick after transfer, because it takes a little time to save the photos into camera roll in the background. Photos in the camera roll can be deleted freely, so it will be convenient for you to manage them.

Click the “Picture” tab on Takecopter to enjoy the photos transferred.

Delete photos from iPhone/ iPad

“I cann’t delete iPhone/ iPad photos, there is just no ‘delete’ button.” “I can delete photos, but it takes long time to do the work. Is there a time-saving technique?” Do you ever have such problems? If so, this instruction is exactly what you are looking for.

Photos you took by iPhone/ iPad camera, downloaded from website, transferred from computer through Wifi etc will be saved in Camera Roll, which you can delete directly; Photos you transferred from computer through iTunes will be saved in Photo Library, which you can not delete them directly on iPhone/ iPad.

Here let’s see how to delete them separately.

Method about deleting photos from Camera Roll

Way 1. Delete photos on iPhone /iPad.

Launch “Photos” app on iPhone iPad.

Click “Albums” tab to see the album list. Click “Edit” button in the right top, then you can select album to delete it.

Notice: Photos in the albums have the same copy in Camera Roll too, and it has no effect on photos in Camera Roll if you delete albums; But if you delete photos from Camera Roll, you can select “Delete Everywhere” to delete them from album at the same time.

Way 2. Delete photos from computer

This is a time-saving technique if you want to delete multiple photos at the same time. This can be done on your computer.

First connect your iPhone/ iPad with computer using a USB cable. Go to “Computer” – “Portable Devices” to find your device.

Open folders in “Internal Storage” – “DCIM“, you can get photos there.

Next, use shortcut key to select and delete photos quickly.

Method about deleting photos from Photo Library

You can not delete photos transferred through iTunes directly on your iPhone/ iPad. When you want to delete them on “Photos” app, there is no delete button.

You have to delete them through iTunes.

First connect your iPhone/ iPad with computer, then launch iTunes to select the device.

Click “Photos” tab, next select folder you want to delete from iPhone/ iPad from the box next to “Sync Photos from”.

Next uncheck “Sync photos from”, you will get a message:

Click “Remove Photos”, then click “Apply” to delete all the photos in the folder you selected.

If it is so bothersome to use iTunes, why  not choose other way to sync photos to iPhone /iPad instead of iTunes. I’d prefer wifi transfer. Photos transferred by Wifi will be saved to Camera Roll, so it’s quite simple both to transfer and to delete them.

Send videos from computer to iPhone

This guide is about how to transfer videos/ movies from computer to iPhone quickly in simplest way. I’m using Wi-Fi to send videos to my iPhone.

Of course you can connect your iPhone and computer using USB cable, and sync videos to iPhone through iTunes. But it will cause a headache if iTunes keeps popping up message which tells you to delete old video which come from other iTunes library first. Email is also an option, but it takes long time and it has the size limitation. If your video is large, you have to find other way.

Wifi transfer is much simple and convenient. There is no limitation on the size, and you can select any video files to transfer without deleting the old ones. There is even no need to connect iPhone with computer.

How to transfer PDF to iPhone5 iBooks wirelessly

iBooks is a great PDF reader. Here I want to show you how to transfer PDF files from computer to your iPhone 5 wirelessly, and read them in iBooks.

Of course, you can also use iTunes to sync PDF files to iPhone. Connect your iPhone and computer using the USB cable, then after iTunes recognizes iPhone device, select and sync PDF files to Books Library. Next you can open iBooks and enjoy them.

To me, wifi transfer may be a simple way to do the same job. No need to launch iTunes or use any USB cable.

8. Tap the “open in” button on the right top, you will get a list of apps popping up. Select iBooks from the list, then the PDF file will be added to your iBooks.

The new Mail feature also let your email the PDF file to your friend or family.

And there are also the new feature of PDF preview and PDF bookmark. PDF preview can help to preview the pages of the PDF file, PDF bookmark can help to go the pages you read last time quickly.

Last time we have discussed how to quit and kill apps on your iPhone with iOS 6 and earlier version. You can quit and kill apps by double clicking the Home button, holding app icon until they jiggle, you can completely quit the app by tapping on the red “-” which is on the left corner of the icon.

It’s harmful to your iPhone battery if we let apps keep running in the background, and sometimes we have to quit and kill apps so we can continue to use them such as they are unresponsive or froze.

1. Tap the Home button twice.

2. In the  multitasking view, swipe the list to find app which you want to close.

Quickly transfer iPhone videos to computer (Mac or Windows)

7. You can click the “Camera Roll” album, and download videos to your computer.

Click “select” to go to the select mode, then click on the thumbnail to get files selected. Finally click “download” to download those files.

Because its high resolution, videos taken by iPhone generally have big size. So you may want to import them to your computer to save your iPhone space. This Takecopter may be the simplest way to help you do that.

Wifi transfer app – new version 2.2.1

Fly Transfer is a wifi transfer app which can help you transfer almost all kinds of files between your iOS device and computer only using Wifi.
